The 26th SERCIA Conference will take place at the Site Saint-Charles, Montpellier (France), from 2 to 4 September 2026.
Under the theme “The Environment in English-Language Cinema and Series”, the conference invites research engaging with the natural environment as represented in film and television from a variety of perspectives: aesthetics, cultural studies, economics, history and sociology. Topics may include nature and landscapes, environmental justice, ecofeminism, the Anthropocene, the capitalocene, anthropogenic transformations (climate change, pollution, urbanisation), non-human agency and ecologies, as well as the relationship between the natural world and other environments — urban, virtual, and beyond.
